So I finally got internet, you wonder why? Well I just moved to a new dwelling of my own and supposedly, trying to get cable and internet is as difficult as milking a donkey – yes I said donkey.

I have been itching to put up this remake/playback music video that I did at the beginning of July for the always smiling couple, Indira & Remo. The longer biography of our meetings, phone calls, gossips and rants will be posted on my next post which will be immediately after this.

Remo arrived from India about a week and half before the wedding so we had to shoot this in such little time, I love pressure by the way. We all worked on getting the acting skills out of Remo and Indira – Indira was a natural – you will see on the clip but to everyone’s surprise Remo broke out of his shell. Keep in mind that I had to bribe him with food so that he would finish his takes.

This was a very fun experience for me, it let me relax before my own wedding which was 2 days after theirs. My assistant choreographer Joseph A. Fernando, the brother of Indira, did a fantastic job in performing the sequences with me even though I felt weird – he loved it (I’m only kidding bud).

I hope you all feel the same as what the guests felt at the reception – it was my first time that I heard guests yell out “Encore”.

I still remember us sitting in Second Cup trying to decide if I should come to India to cover your wedding ceremony, but unfortunately things didn’t work out as my schedule was too hectic. But we made sure that we would squeeze in a Lovestory shoot before you left for your ceremony. I didn’t want to film a regular sit down interview, I wanted to make sure that it was from your point of views – make people understand what you mean to each other. We spent the morning trying to choose the location as the locations that we decided earlier were packed with people, but we ended up finding each other and the proper location.

I hope you did not show the monologues to each other as I wanted it to remain as a surprise once the edit was done. I was nervous about the limited amount of time that we had to shoot but  we ended shooting everything in that one day; even with other appointments and meetings.

Madura & Nanda, I want to thank you for letting me share your love to the world and I wish the best life can offer.

Mukunthan & Darmika(Ms. Organized) wanted a next day edit to show at their reception this past long weekend. I didn’t want to project regular edit for them, but I remembered a significant difference in their ceremony that they had mentioned earlier in one of our meetings. During the ceremony, when it comes to the groom putting the Thaali on the bride – it takes several family members to secure it. It is because the the screw that attaches both ends together is so tiny that it could be lost with one slip of the fingers. But Darmika was set on Mukunthan putting the Thaali on by himself as she felt that to be a more emotional connection (which by the way – I fully agree with). So within the 2 weeks I prepared mentally for a story never told before (hopefully).

Mukunthan had planned to practice tying the Thaali the morning of his wedding ceremony and I wanted to make sure that we captured it. I also wanted to add more depth to the couples idea – by paying a visit to Mukunthan’s house to film the preparation and blessing of the Thaali.

Mukunthan & Darmika were so much fun to film – they had full trust in my abilities to do what I do. So now I’ve thrown out the title of “clients”  away from them and replaced it with “friends”. Their whole family treated us as one of Darmika’s 22 cousins (and NO that is not a typo).

On our first day we had a chance to check Atlantis and its surroundings out, including the venues where the events were taking place. One of the things that shocked me was how cold it was in Bahamas, we were caught off guard. I got to shoot and test out our equipments that evening (you can check this link for the clip).

The next day Neha and Prakash had planned a visit to our close mammal friends, Dolphins, but the forecast had called for rain. Once we got outside we saw sun, so we tagged along with them. It was definitely an experience, but unfortunately the staff wouldn’t allow us with our cameras into the water so we had to shoot from a distance. That same night Neha and Prakash held a mehndi/sangeet, the evening was filled with steelpan, dancing, food, drinks, singing and to top everything off a big fish tank in the background.

The last day of events was of course the wedding, and it was spectacular. We had the beautiful Atlantis hotel as the backdrop, wild winds to add drama to our attires and Neha & Prakash to start their new lives together.

I want to thank Evan again for all the hard work that he put in.

Wedding Coordinator: Elan Weddings

While shooting there I noticed that I had to work without any natural light coming in because it was still dark outside – but because of our new cameras we didn’t have to carry around any free-standing lights – so that was solved. Now Jenan & Aarthy, they’re bit of a reserved couple, but nevertheless getting married to the one you love brings out the joy in you. As the day progressed and they were figuring out that it was THEIR day – Mr. and Mrs. Reserve decided to leave the building and we were left with Jenan & Aarthy.

If you know anything about Hindu weddings then you will notice something different about the way I edited this clip (hint: the title) – have a go at it.
